The mission of The Bridge Foundation is to support and enhance a broader socio-economic capacity for underprivileged communities with focus on the youth, while at the same time building bridges of cooperation, friendship and understanding on a global scale through sports and socio-cultural creativity. Volunteer projects focus on education, academic and experiential. There is also currently an Environmental Management project being developed.
We welcome volunteers/interns of all ages to participate in our ongoing development efforts at Kokrobite, Ga South District; Mamobi and Nima, Accra Metropolitan Area, Greater Accra region, Ghana. TBF offers a variety of comprehensive services through 2 centers located in the city of Accra and Kokrobite, a fishing community about 45 minutes’ drive west of Accra.
In collaboration with the communities we serve, TBF has expanded its networks to include partnerships with local schools, and service organizations. TBF offers the following community outreach services: teaching basic English language and math at local schools; teaching arts and crafts; teaching basic ICT skills and facilitating in sports development Internship/Volunteer Positions: 2016-2017
Most of these internships and volunteer opportunities are meant for people who can travel to and work in Ghana for a minimum of one to 12 months.
Accommodation: We provide subsidized accommodation and internal travel assistance to our volunteers.
Position 1: ICT Development Intern/Volunteer Among the developmental challenges facing children in Ghana are illiteracy and lack of ICT and technical skills which prevents them from eventually entering the job market. The Ghanaian economy does not have the capacity to absorb all of the high school or college graduates, so, as a result, there is mass youth unemployment. An intern could assist the Bridge Foundation in developing training programs for its clients at the Youth Resource and Training Centre. Responsibilities: • Developing and putting together training modules. • Identifying and mobilizing resources – partnerships, grants, in-kind donations etc. to support implementation of programs/projects. • Monitoring and writing evaluation reports on programs and projects • Researching sources of funding for vocational and ICT training • Researching and establishing partnerships with local and overseas vocational schools as well as telecom/computer related businesses who can partner with The Bridge Foundation.
Position 2: Sports Development Responsibilities: • Developing and putting together training schedules. • Identifying and mobilizing resources – sports equipment and kits, etc. to support implementation of programs/projects. • Monitoring and writing evaluation reports on programs and projects
Position 3: Teaching of Basic English/French Language and Maths Responsibilities: • Develop and put together lessons. • Monitor and write evaluations on programs and projects • Research funding sources for learning materials, books etc. • Research and establish partnerships with local and overseas organizations/businesses.
Position 4: Arts and Crafts Teaching Responsibilities: • Develop and put together training modules • Identify and mobilize resources to support and implement programs/projects • Monitor and write evaluation reports on programs and projects. • Research and establish partnerships with local and overseas organizations.
