United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI)

UNICRI is the UN entity mandated to assist intergovernmental, governmental and nongovernmental organizations in the areas of crime prevention policies and justice administration. It works to: advance understanding of crime-related problems, foster just and efficient criminal justice systems, support the respect for international instruments and other standards, and facilitate international law enforcement cooperation and judicial assistance.

In line with the established criteria, junior fellows are appointed on the basis of an in-depth assessment of their curriculum vitae and the advice of experts indicated by applicants or selected by the Director. The fellows serve in a personal capacity and not as representatives of a Government or any other authority external to UNICRI. The fellows are appointed on a full-time or part-time basis for varying periods of time (renewable), up to a maximum of 10.5 months in any 12-month period. The Institute assists fellows in obtaining the relevant clearances from the Host Country's authorities to allow fellows and their dependants to live in Italy for the duration of their appointment to the Institute.

Requires fluency in at least one of the working languages of the UNICRI~ i.e. English and French. Knowledge of other official UN languages (Arabic~ Chinese~ Russian and Spanish) an asset.
